  It's abusive, lacks merit' — Tinubu asks court to dismiss Atiku's appeal. President Bola Tinubu has asked the Supreme Court to dismiss the appeal filed by Atiku Abubakar and the People's Democratic Party (PDP). As per The Cable News, President Tinubu has stated that the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party is both abusive and lacks merit. You may recall that Abubakar and the PDP had filed a petition challenging the results of the presidential election held on February 25. The petitioners had raised several issues, including the alleged irregularities and non-compliance with the Electoral Act during the election. It was alleged that Tinubu and his vice, Kashim Shettima, did not meet the requirements to run for office and did not win the election by a majority of lawful votes. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Chief Ajuri Ngelale as the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity. The Director of Information at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Mr Willie Bassey, made the announcement in a statement. The appointment will be effective from July 31, 2023, and will continue until the end of the administration unless the President chooses otherwise. According to a statement, the President has requested that he utilize his vast experience for his new task. Additionally, Ngelale expressed gratitude for his appointment as the Official Spokesperson and Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity in a tweet last night, stating that he is humbled and honoured by President Bola AhmedTinubu'ss recognition of the need for further hard work.   Following the appointment of new  Service Chiefes   by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, dozens of military top brass will have to exit service due to traditional command and control practice. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken action by approving the immediate retirement of all service chiefs, advisers, comptroller-general of customs, and the inspector-general of police, with immediate effect. The retired Service Chiefs include General Lucky Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff; Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya, Chief of Army Staff; Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air Marshal Isiaka Amao, Chief of Air Staff. In their place, Maj. Gen. C.G. Musa has been appointed as the new Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. T. A Lagbaja as Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral E. A . Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff, and AVM H.B. Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff.   President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, appointed Deputy Inspector-general of Police, DIG Kayode Egbetokun, as the acting Inspector-general of Police pending the confirmation of the Senate. Egbetokun was recently appointed as the new Police boss after serving as the Deputy Inspector-general of Police and supervising DIG for the South-West geo-political zone. He was responsible for managing the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, starting April 6, 2023. Egbetokun was born on September 4, 1964, in Erinja, Yewa South local government area of Ogun State. He joined the Nigeria Police Force on March 3, 1990, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, after completing his initial cadet training at the Nigeria Police Academy.  Throughout his career, Egbetokun has attended numerous courses within and outside the Police Force.  On Monday, Bayo Onanuga, the Director of Media and Publicity for the now-defunct Tinubu-Shettima Campaign Organization, took to his official Twitter handle to clarify that President Bola Tinubu's recent appointment of new Service Chiefs was not influenced by nepotism. As we may recall, Tinubu dismissed all previous service chiefs on the same day. In response to accusations of nepotism, Onanuga clarified that the appointments of service chiefs were distributed across the significant geo-political regions of the country. National Assembly okays 20 Special Advisers for Tinubu

Yesterday, the National Assembly granted President Bola Tinubu's plea to designate 20 Special Advisers. During the plenary, Senate President Ahmad Lawan and Deputy Speaker Ahmed Wase read letters of request from President Tinubu. However, it was noted that the President still needs to provide the names or positions of the advisers mentioned in the letters addressed to Lawan and Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, who is now Tinubu's Chief of Staff. Following reading the letter, Senate Leader Ibrahim Gobir proposed a motion to approve 20 Special Advisers, which was immediately seconded by Minority Leader Philip Aduda and approved. Lawan underscored the importance of the President having a team to work with and indicated that the lack of names for the special advisers would facilitate the approval process. The House also followed suit by section 151 of the 1999 Constitution.

‘I Owe You Nothing’, Tinubu Tells Wike.

  The President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has told Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State that he (Tinubu) owed him nothing but that “You have to lobby me to collect”. Tinubu said this today (Wednesday) in Port Harcourt, the state capital, during the inauguration of the Rumuokuta Flyover, while responding to a request by Governor Wike, who asked for refunds on federal projects undertaken by states of the federation.
