Peter Obi Make A Land Mark Progress As He Presented A Software Engineer As Witness
During the hearing at the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja, a Software Engineer named Anthony Chinwo provided testimony on Thursday. The case he was testifying in regards to the challenge filed by Mr Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party, regarding the 2023 presidential election results.
During the court proceedings, Chinwo acted as the seconpetitioner's witness, PW-2. Although he acknowledged that he needed to beunfailiarunfamiliarunfamiliarunfamiliarunfamiliarunfamiliarore familiar with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) device, he affirmed that he possessed adequate knowledge of the operation of back-end servers. When questioned during cross-examination, the Architect clarified that he did not play any substantial role during the election. He also admitted that Amazon Web Services (AWS), which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) utilized for the general elections, is a reputable provider of Cloud Computer Services with a 99.9% security assurance. He noted that AWS is commonly used by companies and individuals concerned about their data's safety. He stressed that deployment of AWS is one thing, while utilizing it is another matter.
During questioning about his election election election election election analysis, the witness stated that he utilized the publicly available INEC Application Programming Interface (API) to gather information. He explained that he collected data throughout the election period. The witness asserted that INEC should have uploaded data to its server, beginning from the polling unit level.
Although he did not vote on election day and was not an employee of Amazon, the witness was asked if he knew the number of the software used by INEC for the election. He replied that he was not an INEC staff member and did not have access to that information.
After being discharged from the witness box, the court admitted four Forms EC40G from Bayelsa state as evidence, which bi's legal team. Tendered Tender Tendered TheObi'srms contained a summary of registered voters at polling units where elections were not held. The court marked them as Exhibits EG 1 to EG 4.
Though all the Respondents opposed the Exhibits' admissibility, they reserved their reasons for the last written address.
Cited as 1st to 4th Respondents in the petition are; the INEC, the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, the Vice-President-elect, Kashim Shettima, and the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The court has adjourned the proceedings until Friday following an application filed by Obi and the LP requesting permission to interrogate INEC about the technology used during the recent general elections. All respondents ordered the application to be dismissed, stating that it was brought outside the pre-hearing period. The petitioners have asked that INEC be compelled to answer 12 questions, including the date of the functionality test conducted on the improved system used for the elections and the names of those who completed the test. They also want INEC to answer questions such as who created and deployed the four applications patches/updates to fix the HTTP 500 error that prevented the e-transmission of the Presidential election results on 25th February 2023. Additionally, they want to know what time the technical glitches occurred, when they were fixed, and the percentage of the Presidential election results uploaded on the I-Rev on 25th February 2023, as well as at the time of the declaration of the effects on 1st March 2023.
"A significant concern has been raised by the petitioners regarding the glitches that occurred during the Presidential Election, which was conducted concurrently with the National Assembly Elections using the same technological devices. The petitioners are questioning why these glitches occurred during the Presidential Election and have submitted an application to INEC as part of their case against President Tinubu.election victory.
